Chad Frampton

President

As president and CEO of Frampton Construction, Chad Frampton leads the firm in overall direction and company development. He also works to maintain positive, lasting client relationships and heads the company’s work acquisition endeavors.  

Frampton began working for his father, Charles Frampton, founder of Frampton & Associates, in 2002. The younger Frampton worked on the operations side of the business as assistant project manager and then as project manager before joining the management team in 2009.

In 2010, he assumed an executive leadership role and has since led the company to a record of consistent and significant growth and sales. In 2018, Frampton Construction was ranked number 267 on the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest growing countries in the nation and was one of only three companies in South Carolina to be named to ENR Magazine’s Southeast Top Contractor list. 

Frampton was named one of the 50 Most Influential for 2017 and 2018 by the Charleston Business Magazine and was selected as a Forty Under 40 winner by the Charleston Regional Business Journal in 2017. He was also honored with the title of “2017 Lowcountry Man of the Year” by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society after leading a campaign that raised $214,000 toward the fight against blood cancer. In 2019, Frampton was named to ENR Magazine’s Top 20 Under 40 National list. 

Frampton takes great honor in the opportunity to lead Frampton Construction as a second-generation construction firm. He earned a degree in business administration from Newberry College, in Newberry, South Carolina. A native of Charleston, Frampton resides in Mount Pleasant.

Tom Black

Executive Vice President

As executive vice president and chief operating officer, Tom Black manages daily operations of the business from the company's Charleston, S.C. office. He also leads the company’s administration, accounting and project management and is responsible for business development across a broad range of industries and sectors.

Prior to joining the Frampton team, Black served as the vice president and general manager for Roy Anderson Corporation, in Jackson, Mississippi. There, his main responsibilities included implementing annual business plans and policies to achieve overall corporate objectives.

He brings over 30 years of construction and management experience as a construction services executive. Throughout his career, his experience has bridged all roles and responsibilities of a commercial general contractor, including leadership positions in preconstruction and project management. Black holds a B.S. degree from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.  A native of Nashville, Tenn., Black resides on James Island.

Keaton Green

Vice President

Keaton J. Green, vice president, first started with the company in 2002, and after expanding his construction management skills at Clemson University and Holder Construction, returned to Frampton Construction in 2013 as a project manager. Later that year, he was promoted to director. In this role, he helped grow the Charlotte division and its project management operations. 

Having moved back to Frampton’s Charleston office in 2017, Green continues to manage client relationships and focus on company development. He oversees many of the company's standard processes and procedures and leads internal training initiatives to ensure that Frampton team members are up to date on operational best practices. Green was promoted to Vice President in 2019. 

Prior to joining Frampton Construction, Green served as senior project engineer for Holder Construction Company, an ENR top 50 contractor. He holds a B.S. in construction science and management from Clemson University and is a LEED certified accredited professional for building construction and design. A native of Charleston, S.C., he currently resides in Mt. Pleasant.

Joey Smith

Director

As director, Joey Smith focuses on work acquisition, company development, building client relationships, and overall project delivery. Smith has over 16 years of construction experience in a diverse range of areas, including business development, preconstruction, project management, and operations management. With a strong background in industrial design-build work, he leads many of Frampton Construction’s industrial design-build endeavors as well as the daily operation of the Charlotte office. 


Smith is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC).  He now serves as an executive board member for UNC-Charlotte’s School of Construction Management and Engineering Technologies. He holds an OSHA 30-hour training certification and is a licensed general contractor in multiple states, including North and South Carolina. Smith currently resides in Charlotte, N.C.

Craig Calhoun

Director of Finance

As director of finance at Frampton Construction, Craig Calhoun leads the strategic financial direction of the company. Calhoun's financial leadership spans across many sectors of the company, including accounting, risk management, human resources, project management, and investments. In addition, he is actively involved in business development and preconstruction, bringing a financial perspective to initial project development phases.

Calhoun, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with over ten years of construction finance experience, holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Wofford College and a master's degree in accountancy from Clemson University. He currently serves as the President of the South Carolina Chapter of Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA) and is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI). A native of Spartanburg, S.C., Calhoun currently resides in Charleston.

Michaele Frampton

Office Manager

As office manager of the Charleston, S.C. office, Michaele Frampton has been with the Frampton Construction team since September 2007. Her main responsibilities include managing account receivables and payables, general administrative tasks, and human resources.

She graduated from Clemson University with a B.S. in public administration and has been working for the firm since then.   Frampton brings skills in financial accounting, human resources, marketing, and branding to the day-to-day operations of the company.  She also holds the Frampton Construction Unlimited General Contracting license and is a LEED Green Associate.  A native of Charleston, S.C., Frampton currently resides in Mt. Pleasant.

Philip Marino

Senior Preconstruction Manager

As Senior Preconstruction Manger for Frampton Construction, Phillip Marino is responsible for overseeing the preconstruction process for all prospective and existing projects. In his role, he interfaces with the owner, designer, subcontractors, and suppliers to provide accurate, organized and complete cost data.  Phillip organizes and manages hard bids and conceptual estimates, analyzing subcontractor bids for accuracy and comprehensiveness across multiple disciplines. 

Prior to joining Frampton, Phillip worked as an Estimator/Project Manager for Baker Roofing, the third largest roofing contractor in the United States. Phillip earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from The Citadel.

Rik Blanz

Senior Field Manager

Rik Blanz joined Frampton as Senior Field Manager in January 2019, bringing more than three decades of construction industry experience with him. Rik works closely with project staff to schedule, plan and direct all field operations, including management of all work by Frampton Construction’s own forces and that of the subcontractors. He is also responsible for implementing and maintaining Frampton's safety and quality control policies and procedures.  

Prior to joining Frampton, Rik served as general superintendent for Lendlease Group where he earned the 2011 Lendlease Global Award for Leadership in Safety Development and Design. He is a native of Jacksonville, Fla., and currently resides in Summerville, S.C.

Katherine Panke

Marketing Manager

Katherine Panke joined the Frampton Construction team as marketing coordinator in April 2017 and was promoted to marketing manager in 2020. In her role, Katherine leads the company's marketing efforts with a focus on public relations, business development, and company branding. 

Katherine has seven years of experience in the commercial real estate and construction industries, having held marketing and administrative positions at JLL and Avison Young prior to joining Frampton.

Originally from Arlington, VA, Katherine attended James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA where she earned a bachelor's degree in communications studies. Katherine is a member of The Phi Beta Kappa Society, the oldest academic honor society in the United States.
